Why does
hypnotherapy work?
Hypnotherapy works
because it recognises that nicotine addiction is not the main
difficulty in giving up smoking. Nicotine can leave the body in as
little as two days, whilst other chemicals (approximately 4000 of
them) may leave the body in another five days or so. Given this,
why do some people give up smoking for weeks or months and then
drift back into it?
The reason is that
they have failed to address the most significant aspect of being a
smoker – the psychological habit of smoking. This habit is firmly
rooted in the subconscious mind so that there remains a constant
desire to smoke. This leaves the smoker vulnerable to picking up a
cigarette at any time.
