Hypnotherapy
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a safe and reliable method of treatment for a wide range
of problems, such as anxiety, panic attacks, weight loss, stress
management, smoking cessation and phobias. It can help to break certain
behaviour patterns, such as nail biting, blushing or over-eating. It can
also help to over-come nerves, e.g., for a job interview or driving
test. It is non-addictive, has no harmful side effects and is suitable
for most people. It is a natural method of using an individual’s inner
resources to bring about positive changes to their emotional and
psychological well-being. Hypnotherapy complements conventional
medicine, but anyone with an existing or recurring medical condition is
advised to check with their GP before their first therapy session.
How
does it work?
The hypnotherapist will simply talk to you in such a way as to induce a
state of profound relaxation. Whilst in this enjoyable hypnotic state,
you will become open to any therapeutic suggestions made for your
benefit, as your subconscious mind will have become especially receptive
and alert. This can bring about profound changes to your thoughts,
feelings and behaviours.
Will I be aware of what is happening?
You will be fully aware of all that is happening. You remain in full
control and will be able to recall everything after the session. You
cannot be influenced to do anything against your will whilst under
hypnosis. At any time whilst you are under hypnosis, you can bring
yourself out of this state by merely opening your eyes.
How
many sessions will I need?
This will be
discussed at your initial appointment, but as results are usually
quickly achieved with hypnosis, 2 – 4 sessions are normally
sufficient. Each session lasts for approximately 50 minutes once a week
